The Situation

The homeowner had a genuinely impressive outdoor space, a pool and spa, a covered lanai, and a large screened turf area, and almost none of it was usable after dark. Outdoor spaces in Florida get used at night more than during the day for a good part of the year, so the lighting was the difference between a space that gets used and one that gets looked at.

Outdoor work also brings its own problems. Every circuit needs GFCI protection, every connection needs to survive humidity and driving rain, and pool lighting has bonding and clearance requirements that are not optional.

What We Installed

The overhead run through the screened turf area is the piece that carries the space. Continuous LED strip follows the roof structure, tracing the geometry of the framing rather than fighting it, and it reads as part of the architecture instead of something bolted on afterwards.

The pool and spa lighting is colour-changing and app-controlled, which means the space can be warm white for a quiet evening or fully saturated for a party without anyone touching a switch. The full scope:

The Result

The space is now genuinely usable at night, which is the whole point. The overhead LED gives enough light to actually use the turf area after dark, and the pool lighting turns the water into the centrepiece rather than a dark hole in the middle of the yard.

Everything runs on weatherproof, GFCI-protected circuits built for Florida conditions. Outdoor electrical fails when it is installed like indoor electrical, and this space was specced from the start to handle humidity, rain, and salt air without degrading.
