The Situation

This was a full renovation of a high-end Tampa home, and the lighting plan was central to how the finished space would feel. The living areas had a coffered ceiling with deep beams, and the homeowner wanted the architecture lit rather than just illuminated. Standard fixtures mounted flat to the ceiling would have flattened the whole effect.

The kitchen needed a separate approach. Recessed cans for general light, under-cabinet LED for the work surfaces, and enough dedicated circuits to handle a modern appliance load without nuisance breaker trips.

What We Installed

We ran continuous LED strip lighting into the coffered ceiling beams so the light washes across the ceiling planes and picks up the architectural detail. This is the kind of install where the wiring has to be planned before drywall and finish work, and where a clean result depends entirely on the runs being right the first time.

Across the full scope:

• Continuous cove LED strip lighting integrated into coffered ceiling beams
• Dedicated ceiling fan circuits with fan-rated boxes for two fans
• Recessed can lighting throughout the kitchen ceiling
• Under-cabinet LED strip lighting on all kitchen work surfaces
• Dedicated 20A circuits for kitchen appliances
• Dimmer controls zoned so cove, recessed, and task lighting run independently
• All wiring concealed with no visible runs in the finished space

The Result

The living areas read as intentionally designed rather than just lit. The cove lighting gives the coffered ceiling depth at night and can be dimmed low enough to work as ambient light on its own. The kitchen has proper task lighting where it is actually needed instead of relying on overhead cans casting shadows onto the counter.

Because the circuits were zoned during rough-in, the homeowner can run the cove lighting, the recessed cans, and the under-cabinet strips completely independently. That flexibility is difficult to add after the fact and costs very little to plan correctly upfront.
